Mao is still suffering on the Long March, until finally, he is able to achieve his goal of linking up with another Red Army. We also get more view into his morbid and sad personal life.

In this section of the book, Mao starts to have more political conflict with other CCP leaders and Moscow. He also has lots of personal issues with his children and wife. He begins to prepare for one of the most famous events in Chinese history, "The Long March."

In this book I am learning about how Mao Zedong and the CCP took over politically in China. I've learned that Mao enjoyed violence and torture and his plans to further communist support in China. I believe that Mao will continue in trying to strengthen his forces and become more politically influential.
