A great story read. It has all of my favorite literary candies; dark imagery, brooding themes, characters with negligible redeemable qualities, man’s against nature, and no so happy and ending. I’m giving audio a chance. Fuck. Yes.

Times were tough in the 1850’s West of Texas, in old Mexico. Real fucking tough. Brutal. And I loved every second of it.

I am fascinated by the concept of manifest destiny and the drive of families to move West in the young American nation, braving hostile natives, disease, unforgiving terrain and climate, just to start a new life.

How bad does your life have to be? I digress...
