The twist was a twist. I did not see it coming. I just feel cheated because I couldn't have seen it coming. I had no expectation for a happy ending per se, but the ending was trash. She just gave up. It made Selah's whole journey (and consequently the book itself) a waste of time. I don't know. It just didn't fit for me.

This book was frustrating. I would have enjoyed it more if the writing was tighter or Calia gave us a bit more to work with as she developed the story. I was never really too sure of the stakes. Was something bad going to happen or did it already happen? It just felt off. I suppose if you blame the unreliable narrator, it makes it bit more sense. I'm not sure. Calia wrote the madness well, I'll give her that.

I laughed out loud when that Jackson character derided Stephen King and Norah Roberts. At least their stories are entertaining.

I signed up for intrigue and suspense. I am finding none. I’m only sticking around because the reviews say the story picks up soon and I liked Calia's other books.

Seriously, I get it. Poor Selah. You’re unemployed, your mum is depressed, you’re lonely and you want to be a writer. Quite honestly, I can’t find it in me to care.
