The captain of the new found friend's ship comes on board of their ship and they have a conversation. The narrator stays quiet throughout the conversation even though he was nervous.

The captain is new and very unknwon on his ship. The captain feels uneasy about everything and begins to know something is wrong. He tries bringing the ladder up so he can leave and go to sleep but instead he cannot bring it up easily like it should. He looks down and sees a white man naked hanging on the ladder.
