I believe that situations or experiences can shape someones identity in some cases. In this story almost all the characters have problems because they share some of the same traits. They are really money hungry and because of greed they end up in unpleasant situations that could of been avoided. They don't believe in "quality over quantity", and im not talking about materialistically.

I think the author is trying to play with our minds. Knowing that us as people have very bias judgments she/he wants us to look at the situation both subjectively and objectively. Knowing that we view being with characteristics and behavior like Jessica in a bad way, she trying to make us look at it from both sides

I look at Jessica's situation from two different pov. Jessica is a hoe, even though she hasn't been loved she is looking for it in the wrong way and should know better. On the other hand, their are reasons for everyone actions maybe she doesn't know where to find love if the people that are suppose to teach you neglects you and leaves you behind to fend for yourself.
