This is such a beautifully crafted book. You would never do a book about the Armenian genocide justice if you called it exquisite. This book is powerful and necessary. We are almost 100 years removed from this genocide and we still don't teach about this event. Children saw their mothers beheaded. People seemed to just disappear in the desert. Germans were trying to secretly photograph this genocide.

This book is necessary and powerful. I'm hoping this offering by Chris Bohjalian will make us all more human. I finished this book so long ago. To be pensive and write about genocide is an incredible task. this book should be evocative for every human being who lives on this planet. We have to know this history. What other species murders its own? Read this book. Then pray for all of humanity.
