mark monday added a status update
For some reason, Goodreads is now listing me as Top Reviewer #4 in the U.S. because I apparently have reviewed 187 books this week. LOL, as if! It's like Goodreads is taunting me by pretending my dreams are reality.

Sara the Librarian I'm surprised you weren't already a top reviewer! I've been following your reviews for years Mark and you're a brilliant writer.

mark monday thank you Sara, that's a very nice comment to read. I'm flattered!

Goodreads differentiates between "Top Reviewers" and "Best Reviewers". the former is configured from number of reviews produced and the latter from number of likes. Which leads to... interesting Best Reviewers and Best Reviews, at times. I think "interesting" is the best way to put it! Currently I'm the #32 "Best Reviewer" from the States. I've been much lower and I've been much higher throughout the years. Ah, the vagaries of Likes and Best This and Best Thats.

Rana Adham Same thing happened with me a couple of months ago. I was supposedly the #1 top reviewer after reviewing 134 books. I was secretly hoping this false information was only visible on my own page and not for everyone else to see and wonder about 🤦🏻‍♀️

mark monday I know right? It's a strange sort of accomplishment in that it would be sorta impossible to actually accomplish.

Peter More modestly, I was surprised - just five minutes ago - to find myself the 57th Top Reviewer in the UK. Not difficult, one might think...but apparently this honour has been awarded for writing 15 reviews in the last week, which I don't recall doing. Maybe it's Goodreads trying to encourage us. Or alternatively, a glitch. I suspect I shall be back amongst the also-rans next week. Fame is fleeting.

mark monday Fame is indeed fleeting, I just wish glitches were the same!

Agnieszka Fame is indeed capricious thing so bask yourself in that glory while it lasts! Besides, you really are very fine reviewer so it's quite deserved. Though I'm pretty sure you don't give a damn about that silly statistics :)

mark monday It was delightful bask, full of glory and power! :)

I prefer spreadsheets to statistics.

And thank you!
