I agree that The Road is a page turner! I couldn't believe the horror, but I had to forge on through it! The father's love and desire for his son to survive after he was pretty sure he, himself, would die was beautiful! In fact, the father's concern all the way through the book made me have to see what happened. I pictured this acted on stage with a grim, dark set. I liked the way that McCarthy wrote it. Somehow the language conveyed the feeling very well. And I think Cormac McCarthy is a phenomenal writer! I would pretty much try to read anything he writes.

There is already movie based on it, isn't it? It was terrifying when the father was wondering if he would be capable of using his only bullet on his son to save him from horrors worse than death. The strength of this book is its reality - all these situation are chillingly real.
Have you ready anything else by McCarthy? I've heard that "All the pretty horses" are good, but the subject doeasn't appeal to me.
I have read,"No Country For Old Men" and also saw the movie.A man discovers a gruesome murder and investigates and spends the rest of the story running for his life. I liked the book better than the movie and the movie was pretty scary. But McCarthy can spin a good tale that keeps you on the edge of your seat! He is obviously comfortable exploring the more gruesome side of life and possibilities for horror.
