(1) I love a good homage. Here they redo the iconic "Death of Superman" scene. This being an origin story, the metaphor's that Batman could have never even got going.
(2) I know they're using "The Killing Joke" colors, but all this pink and turquoise is giving this a very "Miami Vice" look.

(2) Sometimes I feel Snyder leans too hard on jaggedy horror monsters. But then, if your artist is Spawn vet Greg Capullo, why not?

Part of me feels like I unfairly shortchanged Volume 4 since it's essentially an introduction to this one. Ideally I'd like to have them in one book, to rate and consider as a whole. Volumes 1-2 also share one story. I do understand why, as splitting them up means doubling profits: the "Deathly Hallows" and "Mockingjay" films taught me that much.
