"In the Second Indochina War, as in WWII and Korea, the irony of the American attempt to 'industrialize' its infantry was that the infantry serving America's totalitarian enemies was handled in a much less totalitarian manner. Like the Germans, the Japanese, and the Red Chinese, the Vietnamese Communists understood the importance of the human element in warfare."
