Pheobe is competing in a really important cross-country race and does really well until the end when she feels a light and is transported a couple feet past the finish line. Her friend gave her a bracelet before the race and now Pheobe thinks that her friend somehow gave her powers through the bracelet. At the very end, she finds out she didn't cheat and those were HER powers, and that she was a descendant of Nike.

Pheobe is dealing with her mean stepsister and her friend Adara who are trying to sabotage everything she does. She starts to make friends with a boy on the cross country team and tries to break him and Adara up for her stepsister, who wants to date him, in exchange for tutoring. I don't think it's fair that she has to change schools halfway through her senior year to a super hard school!

I've read a lot of this book in a short amount of time because it is really interesting! This girl named Pheobe is just a regular person until her mom marries a descendant of a Greek god! She has to go to a school for descendants of Greek gods even though she doesn't have any of the powers like the rest of the people at her school. She makes friends with a few people and runs cross country with her mean teammates.
