Over the past week, I've been pulling quotes from the book into my notebook since I am finished with the book and the topic I'm focusing on is Opening up will help show you're not alone.

She arrives at a gate and is asked to write a statement on her beliefs in god on a piece of paper before she can enter. She gets very frustrated with the guard at the gate cause she has no belief. The guard gives her a peek of whats past the gate in hopes of her writing the statement. She is then told by the guard that being a non-believer is a belief.

The grandmother asked Elizabeth to bring a chicken from the cage and she cut the head off in front of her. Elizabeth reflects on how wrong it was and how its cry for help traumatized her.
