The main conflict of this book is that Jonah can only look after his younger siblings for so long. Since his mom isn't fit to take care of them all because she's still mourning of her husbands death, Jonah and his older brother and sister have to all take care of each-other. However, they can't keep doing it for much longer because they all have to attend college soon.
