I’ve never taken an economics class and don’t understand much of what’s said on the news about it. Would you recommend this as a basic introduction? Or could you recommend something else?

I wouldn't recommend this one, as it is not well structured, and comes across more as a free markets rant and conservative inoculation against liberalism than useful economic models for understanding what you see in the financial world.
