Van Helsing is kind of hard to understand. He's Dutch (I think) so he's speaking in a wonky kind of English to make him sound "foreign." I gotta use all my brain power for his speeches. Also, love how his character is often portrayed as a badass vampire hunter but so far he's nothing more than a nerdy doctor. Guess we'll see how this goes.

I'm about 40 pages out from the ending. The characters are preparing to ambush Dracula and, I kid you not, the last 3 pages have been nothing but diary entries that say "Hes not here yet. Still waiting." Can we get to the point before I die of boredom please?

Why is everyone so obsessed with Dracula's dirt? It's obviously important to vampire myth but no one's said why so it just looks like 6 grown men are shoving pieces of Host into dirt boxes lol

OMFG these characters are idiots! They are literally sitting around, talking about killing Dracula and how he turns into bats. They see a bat at the window and they dont even question it. They're like "dur hur it's just a bat, carry on" and they KEEP TALKING ABOUT THEIR PLANS. I can't even.

Woooow. Van Helsing could kill the vampire now and save everyone more trouble but he's not because of some stupid sentimental reason. I know the vampire is going to get away and cause lots of problems because this. Really stupid decision probably made by the author to increase the page count

I think I could've loved this book if it were more fast-paced. It's a creepy mystery with a matching atmosphere, but it spent 100 pages giving a detailed account of one character's illness. And now it's going to spend 100 pages getting the characters to believe in Dracula so they can go kill him in the last 100
