Steven learns throughout the story to cope with a bad situation and think positively to make it better. He matures throughout the book to realize that not everything is about himself and that his main focus is getting Jeffrey better.

So much going on! I'm very happy Steven's dad has finally learned his mistake.

I feel like Steven's dad is a bad father and is starting to understand that he isn't involved at all in his kids' lives. The fact that he had to ask Steven what things Jeff likes is very symbolic. It shows the lack of involvement in their lives.

I feel that there is a lot to think about right now. But I feel contradicted about how Steven is acting. I feel that he is acting the best way he could. As a teenager, obviously you care about yourself. And others, but self-esteem and things related to yourself are very important. So when this whole Jeffrey thing happened, he cared about himself but also was the caring Steven who wanted to reassure his brother.

I have a sense that a big "boom" is going to drop in the story soon. I love how the author really paints the picture between Steven and his parents' relationship. The way he calls them the 'Rents' really shows that he doesn't really have any very special relationship to them. They are just two people in his life who he lives with. It doesn't seem like it's anything more than that.

I feel that Steven should stand up for himself and show that he is the older brother because Jeffrey is really taking over everything. When Jeffrey is embarrassing him, he should've taken charge and somehow stopped Jeffrey, considering the fact that Jeffrey had just publicly embarrassed him in front of a group of people that already called him "Peasant".

I love the beginning and the use of words the author incorporates to make Steven's inner-thinking about his brother funnier and shows a sense of being annoyed with him. The start of the book really wants to make you read on.
