One thing that shocked me was the death of Johnny and Dally. When Johnny died Dally completely lost it.He was miserable and couldn't stand it. Dally robbed a store and pulled an unarmed gun on a police man , they shot and killed him. "He was dead before he even hit the ground(pg154). Dally wanted to be dead because he was so miserable. Poneyboy lost two of his friends that night one hero, one a violent guy.

One thing that surprised me was when Jonny, Darry, and Pony boy went into the church to save the kids and get them out of the burning building. Pony boy and Jonny heard there were kids in their and they felt way to guilty to not do anything so they jumped through a widow and went to save the kids in the burning building. "We pushed open the door to the back room and found kids eight or younger screaming"(93)

One surprising part was when Jony stabbed a Soc.Jonny and Pony boy were running away because he came home super late and Darry slapped him.They were by the playground at the park when a blue mustang came up. They were drowning Pony boy when Jonny stabbed and killed one of them."I had to.They were drowning you Pony.They might have killed you. And they had a blade they were gonna beat me up." Jonny did the right thing.

One thing that scared me in the story was when pony boy got jumped I really liked how all his friends in the gang were so protective of him and wouldn’t leave his side until they were sure he was ok.
