Sometimes starting work on a new book is a little bit like sneezing while eating a carrot—it’s kind of painful (and awkward if you’re around other people), and the end result is that you spray out a giant mess that you end up wiping away before taking a breath and trying again.

But why would I ever encroach on Rod Holder's territory? I just finished a new Heloise book...trying to do something completely different this time around. Here's hoping it pans out. :)

I don't know about that. They are pretty much apart of me now and I go crazy if I don't have enough of them to read.

It comes in handy when ppl are rude with their gastrointestinal emissions. And that’s only the one thing!
P.S. some of my favorite thriller/suspense novels .. well whatever .. Pendergast uses the carrot/ stick phrase every so often. I ... I can’t even look at it the same anymore. Or Bugs Bunny. Well, back to the hypnotist.
I fear I may have ruined carrots and sticks for everyone. And noses.
