This book is about to women. Lily, who is seven, and Snow Flower. They both had arranged marriages and share their feelings about everyday things with each oter through a secret language. Time to time they write each other letters in the language on fans.

I planned this book to be the book I read on the October break. Even though I am not staying in China, this story takes place in the nineteenth century in China. You can tell the author is skilled because the words and phrases he uses are precise and well-chosen like 'her loud voice roused.'
