There are two types of Jimmy Olson ("Superman's Pal") stories: Jimmy gets stupid powers, then loses them; something awful happens to Jimmy, except it was all a trick to catch a bad guy; and Jimmy gets stupid powers/something awful happens, except he never finds out it was a trick because he has to be taught a lesson.
