I mean, to be completely unable to find out which of these two people is mad--this Signora Frola we're talking about, or Signor Ponza, her son-in-law. It's the sort of thing that could only happen in a place like Valdana. Valdana's an unlucky town, with a fatal attraction for all sorts of queer folk.
