i cant even say what is so appealing about this? i dont know? but i just love the atmosphere of the tsarist russia that is so vivid and real, because im literally reading about the life of one of the people closest to the romanovs pre- (and then post-) revolution

my russian roots have come to life & kicked me in the guts after i visited my Absolute Favourite Palace On Earth and now i'm reading this memoir of a chaotic bisexual man who owned that estate and successfully plotted against rasputin (also yes im doing the commentary & review in english bc i Can)
