Ugh this book is tough for me. I want to enjoy the story but it is hard for me to get behind this white washed version of history that only takes into account the struggle of the 1%. At least I am learning more about the literary parallels between the Civil War Reconstructionist era and Daenery’s arc in A Song of Ice and Fire. Now my Damn Yankee Ass has to take a break and watch Ken Burns The Civil War for a bit.
