For man cannot leap over his spiritual horizon on his own; only the Wholly-Other can make this possible. And if this transcendence actually take place, then God's action can break in upon him only as a "wholly other" truth and wisdom-- not merely in the "first shock," since this is an experience one eventually gets over, but essentially and always anew.
