Rereading my favorite series and realizing exactly just how much I DON'T remember of books I've read... I am Shooketh. Is it just me who has the memory capacity of a floppy disk or do people also suffer this book amnesia?

Thanks, I was a bit worried about my memory there. Most of the times when I re-read (which doesn't happen often because i'm not a re-read kind of person) I recognize some details about the book? But when I'm rereading the dark material trilogy i'm like... who is that. don't know her. It was strange!! Sometimes when I look at the list of my read books I tried to recall the plot and I'm like. Um. I forgot even the basic plot. XD
It will happen more as you get older and suddenly, you read an awful lot of books 15+ years ago. As it happens, I remember a lot about the first and third Dark Materials books, which had a lot of vivid scenes that left an impression, but the second is a a huge blank because I found it really boring. I forget non-boring books too though.

Right! The author did keep up his bargain, introducing a new world in each book. But I don't think anything will trump the world of northern lights and armored bears, it's just too iconic.

I figure it makes sense. Especially if you read a lot of books, that's too much information to keep in your head. At least it's more opportunities for enjoyment when you reread something you liked.
