Although the slow progress of the book irritates, I am marveled by his control of details; his hidden meaning spreading throughout the first page.
"To the red Country... the last rains came gently...lifted the corn quickly and scattered the weed colonies." (Page 1, Chapter 1)
To me, I thought the red country meant anger? Maybe the red-necks are furious? Maybe the red country is Texas?
