To balance my reading of "Pride and Prejudice" I am also reading this book about a manly man doing manly things. Can't be too careful.

So far a little slow, and clearly dated, though often fascinating to imagine as if you're reading an anthropological study, as if John Carter is a sort of Margaret Mead to the Thark.
