Zeus is pleased that Prometheus’ gift has turned out so badly for humankind. Zeus no longer has to plan to eradicate the human race since men are doing such a good job on their own with smog, pollution, cancer – all by-products of Prometheus’ gift: So Armageddon’s put on hold/ till Zeus is bored or Man too bold.One wonders where the duality lies: in fire, or in the Gods?

Hermes notes that whereas Prometheus’ technology was once ‘flaunted’, in the end the hope and promise of industrialization have had unanticipated and devastating effects for humankind. Cancer and asthma, illnesses [...] escalations of those much more vague and general diseases that escaped from Pandora’s jar to bring trouble to mortals in archaic Greece.
