Alex tricked Jabez into believing that Jabez slave dragon had killed him. With Jabez off of Alex's back, he went down to the bottom of the underground lake to retrieve the axe of sundering. Once he got possession of the magical axe, he went to the thrown room. He made himself invisible and watched as Jabez took Whalens magic away with an Orion stone. Alex broke the stone with the axe to give Whalen powers again.

Alex and his army broke into the castle avoiding the gargoyles that lurked outside of the castle. Once inside Alex and his army found where the hostages were being held and they rescued them. They tied some ropes and lowered the people down to the floor to escape. Alex realizes that one of the hostages was his old friend Joshua. Alex heads off into the unknown as he tries to find the axe of sundering to destroy Jabez

Alex and his companion Aliia venture through the black lands. The black lands are the place where the shadow creatures that the sea elves created live. It is very dangerous there because the shadow creatures are still mad that they were once slaves. Magic lights also came and almost got Alex, but they didn't. The lights did get some of the group though. Alex and his group are almost at there destination Conmar tower.

Alex Taylor met a magic sea elf. Her name was Allia, she explained to him the history of the sea elves. To get her to talk he had to show her his magic so she would trust that he was legit. Allia explained to him that a long time ago they weren't sea elves, they could go and land and do things with magic. The power got to there heads and they thought they could take on more challenging enemies. One enemy beat them.

Alex and Whalen are on their journey to go destroy Jabez. They travel on a boat to get to the midland. On the boat they come a cross a magical sea serpent that Alex's friend Josh tries to kill. Alex saves the creature and Josh gets popular on the boat. They head their separate ways. Alex and Whalen join a caravan that they are planning to travel with to get to Jabez. They have just been attacked by wolf creatures.

Alex and Whalen arrive at the caravan that they plan to travel with. Whalen goes to talk to the leader for approval. While Alex is waiting for Whalen a couple guys come up to him and start talking smack. They end up dueling with wood swords so no one will get hurt. Alex claims he is just a tailor, so Lupo thinks he can kick his butt. Alex schools him. Lupo doesn't get mad. Whalen arrives with good news.

Whalen came to Alex's house in a hurry. He asked Alex weird questions to make sure he was who. Whalen tells him a story about Jabez. Jabez is one of Whalen's great great nephews. Whalen taught him all there is to being a wizard. He might even be more powerful than Whalen. Jabez is evil. He must be destroyed. Whalen and Alex must get to him and kill him. It's not as easy as it seems, as Jabez can tell if they're near.
