The plot is still moving so slowly, and for such a hugely evil dark lord who doesn't tolerate failure, this guy sure tolerates failure.

Moar exposition...

It's astonishing how much nicer the book becomes to read once the exposition ends and things start happening. That having been said, we're over a quarter of the way through and I feel like I barely know the main characters at all, which is becoming a big problem.

How can I be 14% into the book and only one thing has happened? I'm starting to wonder if the opening with Jake and co. was some kind of weird bait-and-switch and the story actually has nothing to do with them.

Please stop explaining things and get on with the action! You set up that this was desperately urgent!

I keep needing to re-read a couple of paragraphs at a time to figure out what's going on... :S
