After getting arrested for the night, and after sneaking out, and after getting severely warnings from her Uncle Will, Evie is about to get sent back to Ohio. In a desperate attempted to stay in Manhattan, Evie tells her uncle about her ability, and how it may help solve the murders. Will lets her stay in New York but doesn't let her use her powers for the investigation.Soon after, a man confesses he is the murderer.

Evie went to the speakeasy Hosty Tosty even after her Uncle said she couldn't. Mabel went to the Hosty Tosty when her parents thought she was going to a poetry reading. Sam Lloyd when because no one could tell him he couldn't. Theta and Henry when because they had nothing better to do. Memphis went to the Hosty Tosty after after taking advice from Old Blind Bill Johnson to live a little while he's young.

Tommy, a 12 year old boy in a gang got dared t go into an old slaughterhouse believed to be a warehouse. Inside, he met a mysterious man who promised him one hundred dollars and a way out if Tommy retrieved his cane. Tommy took the one hundred dollar but could not get the cane unstuck. The man, however, pulled it out just fine. The next morning, Tommy was found hung with both of his hands cut of at the wrists.

After her dancing partner fell asleep and after getting kicked out of the contest,Ruta Badowski,angry and tired was walking in the dark to a train station when a friendly man,named John Hobbes offered her a phone,coffee,and a warm place to stay while her parents came and got her.Ruta gladly agreed and followed the man down a long road to his house.She drank the coffee,but soon fell asleep without calling her parents.
