Liked the David Mitchell story until the ending; as is so often the case. I disliked the Nicola Barker while reading it, though it left an overall intriguing if disturbing impression; very dark. The Alan Warner was funny but implausible; as, indeed, was most of his 'Their Lips Talked of Mischief'. I enjoyed Rachel Cusk's, which could have been longer, and it made me look up the painting. Toby Litt's was just odd.
