This book is so unbelievably bad. I'm not sure what the intention is, but I can guarantee it fails on all fronts. As a historical novel, it's incredibly inaccurate, and even if it was correct about the things it's wrong about, it is unsatisfying because these people never go anywhere interesting. As a romance, it fails because they're boring and lame. As a drama, it's pathetically bland. This is No Good.

Page 1 of chapter 1 and we're already introduced to the love interest at a crowded party so I feel like actually this might be terrible. To top off first impressions, it seems like the author couldn't decide to make the protagonist cool or coquettish and I kind of already dislike her...
This better get steamy enough to be interesting or terrible enough to be entertaining.

Back in that recurring phase where I just wanna read some saucy romance.
