Spaz and the old man named Ryter, begin their journey to find Spaz's sister Bean. They decide to take the safest route there through the pipes. Ryter says he used to travel through these pipes before the collapse when people weren't particularly "fond" of him. Also, the five year old that Spaz gave his Chox bar to has followed them to the pipe. Now their stuck with him. This is somewhat interesting but not super...

Spaz (the emissary) returns to the old man and plans to steal his things. But upon seeing him, the old man says he was expecting him. Spaz feeling defeated, comes in and doesn't steal anything this time. Instead he tells the old man his story about how poorly someone who's an epileptic is treated. Spaz runs home crying and finds a messenger in his apartment. He tells him that his sister is in trouble.

The emissary named Spaz meets whats called a Proove. They're essentially people who are genetically modified to look and be perfect. Spaz is a normal, someone who is modified, and so he tries to hide himself from her gaze but he was too late. The Tek protecting her, a security robot, spots him and gives him supplies. Spaz returns home to find Billy Bizmo in his apartment, Spaz gave him what he found at the old man's.

This book seems to take place in the future where people find entertainment through neuro-transmitted drugs that allow them to "feel" different things. The story is told from the perspective of a Bully Banger Emissary who seems to have a better memory of the past then most people. The Bully Bangers are a gang that may have caused the Shake which plunged the world into chaos apparently. Interesting so far!
