David Finch creates a new villain here, White Rabbit. I'm not quite sure how I feel. She's certainly memorable. Her gimmick seems to be getting Batman to chase her, leading him into traps. I know I've been critical of New 52 costumes being too armor-heavy, but I think she'd be better served with more protection than just underwear to fight Batman.

It's quite apparent that this book is meant to showcase art, with the plot amounting to not much more. The formula's pretty clear: White Rabbit appears, she teases Batman and he chases her, she leads him into an ambush by one of his villains, and they have a bloody fight for much of the issue. White Rabbit is a plot device leading to boss battles.

The more I read this, the more it comes off as David Finch's attempt at Batman: Hush. One of hallmarks of Hush is seeing Jim Lee's version of every major Batman ally and villain. It's more or less the same thing here. Though I don't know if Finch's White Rabbit will have the staying-power and impact of Lee's titular Hush. So far not.

At this point I know what I'm going to get with David Finch, which isn't a lot. At least he has some decent co-writers in this. I sort of view comics and its characters like baseball teams. If you're a die-hard fan, you're going to watch regardless, and hope to win, even if it's the worst pitcher in the rotation and you know you're likely to lose.
