‘Black Feminist Theology’ - for black girls on the verge of leaving the church; to aid black girls reconcile their spiritual lives alongside their sexual lives + working lives. Interesting concept... Cooper’s grandma encouraging her 22 y/o self to ‘HAVE SEX’ at the beginning of this chapter had me cringing lmao

“ I’m no fair weathered feminist though- rape is rape; sexism is sexism, no matter who commits it. I gave up The Cosby Show even after Cosby became a moralizing, grandfatherly fuckboy who shamed single black mothers, derided the black poor and mocked black naming practices” *squealingggggg*

*whew* Chapter 4 was a very power chapter on black masculinity, patriarchy, Cooper’s father’s violence... black men’s lack of impulse to hold us down via the Chibok girls incident and how American imperialism contradicts her beliefs. Its complex to explain but well articulated!

Cooper going in on Chimamanda not accepting trans women as WOMEN; bell hooks alluding to one of Beyonce’s white-washed magazine covers as terrorism; there’s a lot going on in chapter 2 lol! Just wish I didn’t hear the phlegm in her throat from time to time ugh
