Ok - so I've been enjoying 1Q84 - it starts out really intriguing, lots of cool descriptions. Then, as it goes along, it starts to lose flavor - everybody talks like Japanese robots who have no emotion. Then, at the crux of the book, it turns into plodding exposition between Aomame and "Leader" WHICH DOESN'T EXPLAIN ANYTHING and is told with such a lack of emotion, I have decided to give up and read something else.
