I've read The Secret Life of Trees, Other Minds: The Octopus, the Sea, and the Deep Origins of Consciousness, and a few others in this genre.
This is more than worthy to be in that genre, but so far seems to be a list of straight-up incredible facts that slowly work their way into a narrative. Because of this - you hang on every word lest you miss a factoid about our underwater friends that changes your worldview.
