I really want to know how everything is going to tie together

I'm very confused on how everything is going to tie together, the doctor who Lucy was talking to Mina about has this patient that he is watching, he feeds many smaller animals to bigger animals and then he proceeds to eat them. It's quite odd

I pretty sure Johnathan Harper has died as the narrative has switched to Mina, they are describing a new guy that her friend Lucy who doesn't seem to like her engagement to Johnathan wants to set her up with, it's he a vampire/the count, he seems suspicious
