I'm bailing from Scott Lobdell to Geoff Johns, who I know to be a reliable writer. I'm interested in this because it features Black Manta, who I've enjoyed in the limited media I've seen him in. Personally I think comics are severely lacking in racially or ethnically diverse super-villains. For big names in DC I can only think of Bane, Ra's al Ghul, Black Manta and Black Adam. One thing I enjoy about Aquaman is it's been essentially a couple's book. It's about Arthur and Mera living on the surface world doing the royalty among townsfolk trope. Mera's become a favorite of mine. She's basically a water Poison Ivy. Mera and Arthur dote on each other – it's super-cute. So Arthur's ex shows up pretty much naked but for a string-bikini top and a barely-there loin cloth, and Mera's pissed.
