Bit behind in my uni reading thanks to a cold. Rewatched the movie version of this. Shows the male dominated society. Austen’s Emma is much cleverer (even when she is being ignorant) then the movie version. Will try the BBC miniseries next.....

I had forgotten how easy Austen is to read. It may not be modern in its subject but it’s easy to see why all her novels are still widely read.

And the reading for semester one begins!! Thankfully I’ve read this once before, though that doesn’t make reading it critically any easier....
