Brock is quite unsettling. He quite often has thoughts of beating people, including his very injured partner. It just adds to my dislike of this guy.

There are a few characters who've been introduced (including one in the epilogue), but no explanation as to who they are and why they're in the story.

Well that was a boring and uneventful climax. Chapter one was more of a climax than this shit.

(Brock referring to Eric's estranged mother, who has sued for custody because her son is gay, and done a couple other questionable things) - "It made him want to growl and beat her..."
Whoa whoa whoa. Hold the phone. This is not okay. Even though she's done some awful things, this is the first thing that comes into his head. THIS. IS. NOT. OKAY.

So the police have fired the officer who shot and killed one of the perps (the perp who had fired a gun and shot 2 people, one almost fatally). WHAT? This is getting ridiculous.

The kid who got away is now calling and threatening Brock, and instead of taking that to the investigating police, he only tells his personal security team. Just so much ugh.

Bloody hell, this child is out of control.

"It was a good thing he [Brock] was loaded and could afford the help Eric was going to need for as long as it was needed." UGH. This guy is so fucking full of himself and I really, REALLY dislike him.

So the kidnapping was over halfway through the first chapter. The blurb of this book makes it sound like it would be a tense race against time to get Josie back. Plus, all the people involved in holding her captive have been arrested.

I'm curious to see where the story goes from here, but this is horrendously written so although I suspect a few twists to be coming soon, I'm not expecting to enjoy this at all.

"Why the fuck would they take my baby?" - Eric.
"Because people suck." - Brock.

Umm, what?

Just another example of the stellar interactions in this book.

Why in the ever loving fuck would Eric be thinking about the shade of Brock's eyes when his freaking child is missing?

And Brock, who while hugging a grieving father, can only think about how good it feels to be embracing this man again. Who the fuck does that?
