Caniff's art is really great. I don't catch maybe 25% of the jokes in each strip, but I love the artwork, and the spirit of the comic is a lot more revelatory than its actual content. I love the introduction provided in this volume, as it properly contextualizes the script and issues some great scholarship about what made it so popular for its day.

Seriously, though, I could look at the art all day.
