On chapter 33 and I'm ready for the book to be over. The author introduced a great, highly original premise in chapter 7. However the narrative contains so much random exposition that it kills the story. The characters are good but not quite believable. I have 10 chapters left and I'm hoping the author can finish strong. He's already wasted so many great opportunities with this storyline.

Great prologue that hooks the reader. Then it gets boring. All exposition that I don't care about. Nothing happening but the author's own rambling opinions on culture. We haven't met the hero yet. Nor a villain. Nor anything resembling a plot. The POV is awkward and clunky. Does first-person work for supposed horror? How did this book get published?
