When one of his brothers brings his girlfriend she is scared of the dad, which messes up the relationship.

Right now in the book Just my Luck, a fourth grade girl is telling a story about how she almost died after a block party (which was supposed to be a fun bike racing competition that didn't end well)that her and her family had set up. She has never rode her bike since because she is scared it might happen again.
