meh, too many tangents off of other tangents at this point. Kinda hard to maintain interest. I would've been happy with it ending 50 pages ago, where a real semblance of finality was established. Feels like the worlds longest P.S. at this point and the fact that this is going to go on for 150+ pages is enough for me to want to put it down. Crazy and beautiful at times but drawn out and boring at others.

I have to say, Murikami must've had some strange relationships with the women in his life. He was weird obsessions with inanely driven female characters, blase male protagonists, loose ends, Greece, "perfect ears," and illusions of the mind. Granted, these esoteric foundations make for fascinating story archs. My obsession with this book and now Murikami, is probably similar to people who like to eat durian.

As soon as I feel like some clarity is over the horizon, shit gets flip turned upside down. I keep saying, "WHAT THE FUCK" to myself in the best way possible. I feel like i'm lucidly dreaming in Toru Okadas lucid dream. I can't imagine Murakami was sober writing this book, as if he was in the throes of some crazy hallucinogenic trip. Again, in the best way possible.

Uh, holy shit, I was not prepared for lieutenant Mamiyas war story. Shit was horrifically graphic but I gotta say, what a well crafted story. I'm gripped, that's for sure. The more I read, the more this book feels like a compilation of other people's lives tied to Toru Okada rather than a story about the supposed protagonist and his damned cat, which by the way, hasn't been mentioned in like 100 pages.

Shockingly uneventful with no real direction. I feel like spongebob episode where he and squidward are delivering that krusty krab pizza. I can't tell if this aimless wandering like plot development is just his writing style or if it's just the books of his i've chosen.
