While the first few chapters were extremely boring, the last few have been riveting. Hearing about the different people in Taliban has been interesting, especially the different reactions when 9/11 occurred. It's a shame there are so many terrorists over there because it actually sounds like it would be an interesting place to visit (though I couldn't imagine staying very long even without the terrorists!).

I'm really disappointed for a number of reasons. One: it's not written by Mortenson despite the fact his name is on the cover. Two: it begins with the boring story of him surviving his failed attempt to climb K2 which I don't care about. Three: I'm reading this because I care about the schools, not Mortenson's love life. Four: too much time spent talking about supplies.

This is one of the books I bought on my very last visit to Borders. Up in West Virginia they had a massive sale (half the store was already empty) and this was one of the books I've got. Thus far I've only read a couple of the glowing reviews at the very beginning of the book.
