The different character perspectives are very revealing. The love triangle between Henry Jamie and Laura is more complicated then I first thought. Hearing about war from Ronsell, Henry, and Jamie show that despite their personal backgrounds they were all risking their lives for people.

Starting with the end makes you anxious for the long journey ahead for the characters. The hints of jealousy and anger and love set up the character relationships. This book almost seems like a mystery novel to find who killed their father.
