I know Pullman is English and has been working on this book for nearly a decade, but somehow it seems to be weirdly reflective of the current toxically theocratic push in the United States.

I can’t handle how into this book I already am. It’s indescribable how great it feels to be immersed in this universe again, and with such a strong comeback. I already care deeply for Malcolm, and I see so much of myself at that age in him. Plus, he stands wonderfully as an antithesis to Lyra’s rowdy, fiery personality.
