Maureen Johnson's story is not nearly as good as I remember. It's cheesy, badly-written, and the plot construction is just lazy.

A Cheertastic Christmas Miracle by John Green: 3/5 This story was definitely funny, but aspects of it were also pretty ridiculous, and watching Green try to do gender politics was kind of cringe-inducing. Still, I liked the prose and the characters overall - it could've been a lot worse.

John Green's story is substantially more asinine than Maureen Johnson's, but it's also substantially funnier. Watching Green try to do gender politics kind of makes me cringe, but the story handles its tone pretty well, and it was a fun read.

The Jubilee Express by Maureen Johnson: 2/5
This was cheesy, badly-written, and just not very impactful. It's so lightweight that it undermines its own message, but most of the fun feels really forced. It honestly feels to me like a bad imitation of John Green.

I liked the John Green thing, and the Maureen Johnson one continued to be good. I haven't read much of the Lauren Myracle one, but the writing seems pretty good.

I rather like this story. The writing is often bogged down by unnecessary exposition, but the story's good, and the characters are great. I'm feeling optimistic about this book.
